# Reap retired revisions

A superseded revision is retired but kept intact, so you can revert to it. Retired revisions accumulate until you reap them.

**Reap**, on the **Updates** tab, deletes revisions that were retired longer ago than the reap window (seven days by default). It runs a dry run first, behind a confirmation, showing exactly which revisions would be removed. The live revision is never eligible, and neither is any revision still inside the window.

Reaping deletes the retired instance and its per-revision image, so the immutable history stays bounded. It is a fast set of deletes and runs inline rather than on the queue.
